canal at Harpers Ferry

A major flood is emminent they say. This is on the canal down across from Harpers Ferry, WV. There is NEVER water in the canal at this area...as you can see there is water in the canal (the right side of the picture) and the river on the left side was just churning and rushing by. The river at this point is USUALLY about 20 feet lower than the towpath (at least). When I took this picture the river was actually only about a foot lower than the towpath. And the rain has continued all day and the snow continues to in the mountains upriver!
