We visited Toulon today via a small ferry from Les Sabelettes. Toulon is a grittier port city, and we saw such a mix of nationalities that it felt more like home. New Orleans has its grit as well. We also stumbled upon a good seafood restaurant with a waiter who spoke English. I can muddle my way through French for purchases and a grocery store, but ordering at a restaurant requires subtleties that I don't possess.

Ah, I would love to be in your shoes right now. My oldest is taking his 2nd year of French in high school and he's quite the natural.
Ahh, so nice. :)
