Sarabeth's 13th
Today we completed one of many steps to get my child eligible to attend the best public elementary school in New Orleans, a charter school. We don't live in the district, but my husband works for the university that helped with the charter. That gives us points. The other points come from completing the application property, attending a curriculum meeting, filling out a questionnaire at the meeting, and the child's scores on a test. The school was half an hour late for our appointment, which meant we waited outside where my son played on the jungle gym. The playing appeared to relax him, which I hope translates into good test scores for him.

Do your girls attend the same school?
No, they don't. They are at a private all girls school. Moving here in the middle of the school year limits a person's options. I don't want my children to go to a school associated with a church (very common around here). We chose the girls school because it is completely independent. Getting them in the public school at this stage would be difficult. Once people get their kids into this charter school, they don't take them out.
Good luck!
